In early October, I received a phone call from Chase seeking from me a late payment/. (Of $300!) “I thought I wiped my hands clean when I closed my account in August?” It was explained that, because I made a payment in the middle of August, I had not actually paid August’s statement, but instead July’s, and I would be responsible for the interest accrued?.
I called Chase back and disputed the charges". It was not explained to me by the initial representative I would be responsible for accrued interest; I felt like I was being punished for paying off my card in the middle of the month:. I would have requested those fees be figured into calculation, or for a more appropriate date of payment, had it been explained, instead of being assured my account was paid in full/.
The representative assigned to me at that time was helpful; she removed all service fees, leaving me a balance of $75?. I felt this was fair; as per Chase policy, I should be responsible for the interest?. However, because of information received from their representative, I did not know a supplementary payment would be required, and should not be responsible for any late fees. She instructed me to call back Monday (November) to insure approval for her fee removal request.
On Monday, another representative told me yes, all fees had been dissolved, leaving me a balance of $75. I asked if the payment would still be $75 if I made an online payment Wednesday; she said yes, and assured me, this time, I really would be wiping my hands clean.
I went online Wednesday to pay my bill; the balance was $187 – the minimum payment was $75. That was not the information provided to me.
I spoke to a supervisor, who said my balance would actually be $92. Upon inquiry, he told me, my payment for $75 was now late, and I would be charged a late fee. “A late fee? But your representative told me a Wednesday payment would still be $75.” His response? “That’s not our responsibility – you are responsible for knowing the day when your billing cycle ends.” “THE FALSE INFORMATION YOUR REPRESENTATIVE PROVIDES TO ME IS NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY?” “No.” I could not believe it. I was being charged a late fee, because his representative gave me false information, and I was the one responsible.
Though, he did say if I paid the $92 now, he would wave all fees (because that $92 interest is now, well, building interest) and I could wipe my hands clean.
I paid it, to end the aggravation. But honestly, how does one fight or dispute this? My credit is ruined because of mistaken information provided to me by their agents – twice. 1284770

| 1. Written by Chase is a joke on November 6, 2009 from oklahoma city, oklahoma, US Chase is the company in the news that is doing everything possible to steal money from their customers and doing the most unethical business practices they can come up with. Since you are caught in their web of deceit and thievery you must get something in writing from Chase verifying you have a zero balance and have closed your account. You must keep the letter in your filing cabinet for the rest of your life. As you are experiencing they will continue to screw with you and damage whatever credit you have left. That's their job and that is the one and only thing they are good at, Stealing, Lying, Screwing with your Balance, Making things so confusing they don't even know what's going on, and having a different answer everytime you call. I believe they can't keep very good people working for them as well, as they are just such a dishonest group in general. They are doing this exact thing to millions of people right now. Must never do business with Chase ever again. I feel so sorry for the people who have their mortgages thru Chase. |
